Things I Miss...

I miss...
1) my love to write
2) Europe and all the breathtaking beauty that came with it
3) not having to pretend

I'm just writing a post coz I realize the last time I did was eons ago.
How do I kick start writing again... when all I've been writing in the past few years start end end with...

Dear Mr/Ms _______,

Greetings from _________.

Please let me know if there is any further way I may assist you.

Thank you.

Regards
Janice

Zone Out

Holga, Angkor Wat.

That line, between sanity and insanity.
When you are conflicted and contradict.
Titanic hearts, no iceberg.

Selfish. Stay away.
Acceptance. Omit.

You got stabbed by a double-edged sword.
Butter knife, time is the doctor.
And maybe, just maybe...
one day it'll be nothing.

For an Optimist, I am Pretty Pessimistic.

I'd mentioned I wouldn't be happy this CNY. Not with all that has happened. All the beautiful lives I know that have been robbed, and knowing I've got people I love hurting around me. I don't know if it's a growing up thing to be more pessimistic, coz I think I used to be rather optimistic. Well, I guess everyone's got their good moments, bad moments.

But with all that's said, I still want to smile because of the lives God has kept save. I want to smile because God has given us memories and love and all the things we take for granted every day. Air, water, and the best of all- a family.

If He leads us to it, He'll lead us through it.

No matter how life could be such an unfair *beep*, we've got to remember the good parts of it.

So, people.. Even if life is kicking you in the ass, Happy Chinese New Year! :)

Fashion Show

this picture was taken by my iPhone 3gs. pretty cool right? :D looked like a real photoshoot.

I had made a tumblr blog for my modeling/ photography (lomo of course) pictures. But evidently i don't have much discipline or motivation to keep up in updating there. So i shall just blog about it here. Oh and maybe just sign up for flickr so my pictures won't just be on Facebook.

So there's this No. 9 Model Examination on 19th October. And i graduated from it i think about 2 years ago. So it's the 'juniors' turn (not all of them really are juniors mind you) and there was a Fashion Show that came with it too. Pictures coming right up...

I wore this empress + vampire cape outfit last year in the make up competition so wearing it again was comfortable. I pretty much knew how to 'swoosh' the skirt and all. So i wasn't too worried about tripping. Haha..

i love how the cape thing looks like it was caught in it's moving action. :)

the vampire cape thing is an amazing thing to work/walk with. And i think the photographers had captured the pictures pretty well. :)

the qipao.

wore another really slim model's safety pants inside coz i forgot mine. think it helped push my fats out obvious. oh poo. hahaha!

and last but not least, it's the outfits that we brought ourselves- our style and all. and ah, why aren't you surprised that i went with the leather jacket right? love love them.

and we also had this part where we had to challenge the models taking the exam this time. to outshine them in their poses. they don't know who their 'challenger' is until we go onstage. lots were drawn and i initially had 3 people to challenge. which was scaring the hell out of it. but in the end i only had to challenge 2 coz i exam taker backed out and vivien helped me take 1.

so i had to challenge Ying Ying, the junior who seriously is my senior- only that she didn't take the exam 2 years ago coz she was working. AND Ann who is 178cm. How on earth was i going to outshine the height! I am nowhere near even 170cm. :P

So here's Ann.

And Ying Ying...

The bf helped me take video of the photo contest challenge. So there you go! :) Ying Ying won her batch's Best Performer anyway. :)

Did i manage to outshine them? I reckon not.

You can be the judge.

oh and other videos from that day.

haha you can see me putting make up for a while in this video.

and the other pictures here of all the other models. ;)

My One Year

as promised... my one year anniversary blog post! :)

so we started off like any other Sunday where i go over to his place for HIMYM marathons and lots of food. Like sure, we want the day to be different and special... but still remember all our simple pleasures in life right? :) so here's it...

our maggi mee with two eggs. my way of trying not to eat too much- so share!

***

so i was at work the day before where i saw this huge bouquet of roses held by this floral delivery guy walking into my office. and i was thinking "is it really me this time or is it going to be a wrong delivery again?"

the story is like this: a few months back, i got this other bouquet of flowers and had all the students who were outside my office cheer and tease, etc. you can imagine the scene. only for me to open the card and think "this isn't right, Anthony doesn't call me ______" Then, i looked at the receipt and realized that it wasn't mine. LOL. Signed for a bouquet of flowers not meant for me but a colleague with a rather similar name. So i had to be the delivery woman instead and send it to the right recipient. Hahaha... embarrassing? Yeah to a certain extend- but it was truly so funny.

So back to my story, yeah so this time it was correctly mine! :D
Seriously, it's like he never gives up surprising me and hey! I love surprises. So, evidently i was super touched.

and then he got me this really pretty Swarovski earrings. So now it's like my permanent earrings, the way my neck holds the necklace he got me months ago permanently as well. :) though i did forget to wear it that day because i took it off the day before when i went to the gym. :(

Me and my new earrings.

I decided to get him roses too. Who said girls can't be the one giving them to guys right? :P
Got them in red wrapped in black because it's his favorite color combo. The way pink + black is mine. Don't ask me why i got one white one. I don't know why i thought it'll be nicer.

I named this his Random Box of surprise. Holds his LKY book (which is as thick as Harry Potter- and no shocker on which i'll rather read), a photo album, a comic book i drew for him, and cup cakes. In case you were wondering why it's so Mickey-fied it's because we had this Mickey Minnie thing after i started talking to him in this Minnie Mouse voice one day and then it stuck. And hey, Mickey + Minnie stuff are so easy and convenient to find. :)

Finally came dinner time, and the final surprise. I didn't know where we were eating until we reached there. I only knew it was going to be at MBS- coz he needed help with gps (which i think i'm a lot better at now if i might add, haha!)

What a splendid surprise. I was on the same level as the famous pool at MBS!
I'm a little 'katak di bawah tempurung'.
Someday i shall go swim in that pool too. But as for now, dinner on the same floor on a perfect day works so much better. :)

we started off with complimentary bread- at least i think they were complimentary because they kept asking us if we want more. I would have taken as much as i could coz it was really yummy and had all sorts of flavors, only... i didn't want to be too full before the main course.

JQ’s Signature

Foie Gras xiao long bao

鹅肝小笼包

JQ is Justin Quek, the chef. I was like " For the price, this better be so much better than Crystal Jade's." And hey, it was! It was like all Chinese food yumminess all wrapped in one.

And then came my soup... which most people close to me know i can't do without. Looking at the menu i was thinking Mushroom Cappucino sounds kind of odd. But if it's a signature dish, it's a must right?

JQ's Signature Fresh Mushroom Cappuccino JQ 招牌蘑菇汤

and danggg! It was awesome! Who would have thought Mushroom soup and Cappucino will taste so good together? It was basically Mushroom Soup tasting, but as you drink it you can smell this tinge of amazing Cappuccino. I don't know if it makes any sense by the way i'm saying. But it's completely worth it.

and our main courses....

Pan-grilled 300 days grain-fed Angus beef and sautéed Maine lobster medallion in Asian black pepper sauce 香煎谷饲安格斯牛排配龙虾黑椒汁

I had mine in medium rare- as usual. It was really really good- though a part of me couldn't help comparing it to the last one i ate with the bf also at MBS which i sorta preferred a little more and also the incredible Japanese wagyu i had last month.. But hey don't mind me- taking those two off the account, this was awesome on it's own too.

and the bf had Slow roasted U.S. Colorado lamb rack

Cumin flavoured baby carrots, smoked aubergine,
Sichuan pepper au jus 慢烤美国科罗拉多州羊肋排配茴香味胡萝卜烟熏茄子及四川胡椒汁

It was good too, but i'm more of a steak person anyway. So yeah...

The rest of the menu can be found here!

and now for the view from the balcony... This was just a few meters away from the MBS pool. :)

Check out the view! Splendid. The wind, air and view makes you feel invincible and special for that moment. Like "WOW *BREATHE*" Singapore is a beautiful city, without a doubt.

Thank you Baby for making my one year memory perfect.
Words cannot describe how grateful and blessed i feel to have you in my life.
Cheers to the past, present and i really hope- future. :)

PS. My mac tends to auto correct- so don't mind me if suddenly some part of my words or sentences don't make sense or looks wrong. I can't be bothered to proofread the grammar/ spelling of what i wrote. TYVM.

I'M BACK & with my HALLOWEEN post

I guess it's right to say as you grow 'older' you do start to lose interest in things you used to love. Or rather, you want to continue but don't know how to. I guess that's what happened to me when Uni ended and work started. There's nothing much to talk about the day besides "oh, so i went to work, went to gym, came home and nothing significant happened". The bf finds it really frustrating whenever he asks me what's up and hear me say "nothing.." only to end up really thinking of what did happen and blabber on and on. As it turns out, i do have quite a lot of things to say- well, normally.

So basically, i've decided to once again re-embrace this hobby of mine. Not so that everyone gets a peek into my life. Rather, so that i can hold onto my sanity and maybe stay a little more youthful. As my sister says and i quote "You are boring. all you do is go work, come home and watch your Vampire Diaries." HAHA! Yes yes the 17 year old has more life than me.

Time for some happenings. (speaking of which maybe i should be less active on fb and more on the blog. sometimes i don't find it necessary to blog because the pictures are already on fb anyway. :P)

First stop: Halloween
Let's just call it a Costume Party fun okay? My parents think it's ridiculous to even celebrate something like Halloween seeing how 'demonic' it may be. I guess they never noticed that it's more than the horror. Check out the angel and fairies! Ah either way Halloween isn't too popular in Malaysia, or okay maybe just Johor.

So this was at Eats & Beats. A popular hangout among my friends and i now. And seeing there was a chance to dress up, i knew i HAD to go. (Because i already knew what i wanted to go as ;) haha)

For my love of The Vampire Diaries... what else can i go as? :)
Not going as any character in particular, as ourselves (jiahui and i) if we turned.. plus it's so completely affordable. Don't need a costume... all we needed was a face, the right tone of make up (which i already had) and good make up skills (nothing YouTube can't teach and i can't learn.) Trial and error i might add. This was my 3rd try. First time was the moment i had my idea so i did a 'draft' on my face. Veins were too fat then. 2nd time while waiting for Jiahui to come and it was too long... The bf was giving me the feedback lol... and finally on 3rd try.. i THINK it worked out pretty well for a noob make up artist. :)

and well, tried my new found skills on Ms Jiahui as well. :) trust her to trust me not to make a mess on her face. Luckily i didn't...

and now some pictures from the day...

you know you can't stop photobooth'ing once you get a Mac.

taken on one of the streets around the area. A street perfect for an old school feel in JB.

Ming!

Jiahui and i once had a self photoshoot that was SOOO similar to this. We did it back when we were 17. If only i can find that picture to show the difference. We had long black hair, and i was extremely fat then (lol). And we had really bad eyeliner on. We named it The Tale of Two Sisters then.

Group photo with the bf, Tsing Yiu and Ban Lee..

had to catch a picture with the distant cuzzies. :)

oh and evidently Ban Lee went as a vampire too. Only not a TVD one. hahaha..

Til next year! *GRR*

Anyway, blogging this on my work lunch time. Brought my lappie to work so i can listen to my iTunes at work. Seeing that i'm alone in the office now- my colleague resigned and her last day was on Wednesday. :( so yeah...

On Playlist: Switchfoot- Yet (TVD OST)
told you i was a mad fanatic at the moment.

Next post i'll write about my Anniversary on the 1st. Felt it deserved it's own post instead of being squashed with this. :)

Toodles

Uhha and then?

Looks like i've not blogged since April. That's a hell lot of time. From the days it was blogging everyday to this state. So here are once again some tiny updates...

Work
It has been alright in general. Feels like the students are my friends at the same time. Dealt with a bit of an issue at one point but i'm just glad that's over with now. How dramatic.
On another note, i've got blogshop plans. So keep a lookout for that.

It's the bf and my 11 months tomorrow. :)
and that would be one month away from a year! :)
HAPPY 11 MONTHS BABY. *hearts

And it seems to me that life isn't interesting to blog about at the moment. So i'll leave it at that. Maybe i will start blogging a lot more when i get my own Mac. I need the passion to write back.
